Strengthening Women's Reproductive Health Outcomes in Rural Senegal

  • Health For Her Women's Health Summit

The "Health for Her" initiative, in partnership with local healthcare providers and stakeholders. This initiative addresses period poverty and improves access to cervical and HPV screenings in rural Senegal. By combining preventative healthcare services with reproductive and maternal health education, "Health for Her" empowers women and adolescent girls with critical resources for long-term well-being.

Annual Health For Her Summit: 2 2-day seminar held in person to educate women and adolescent girls on STI/STD prevention, cervical & breast cancer prevention, and reproductive and maternal health resources.

  • Cervical Cancer Research

The Health for Her initiative addresses critical gaps in women's health in Senegal, focusing on improving access to cervical cancer screenings. However, limited data and research exist on cervical cancer diagnostics and prevention methods for women in rural areas of Senegal. As a public health-focused organization, we aim to tell the stories of the communities we serve through research; that is why we are conducting an ethnographic research study to address the disparities in cervical cancer and HPV vaccine availability in rural Senegal, led by our founder and trained epidemiologist, Maimouna Ndiaye.

  • HPV In Senegal

Women in rural Senegal face significant barriers to accessing reproductive healthcare, leading to high rates of HPV and undiagnosed cervical cancer. Cultural stigma surrounding vaccination, mental health, and sexual education further exacerbates these challenges. Without intervention, many women remain vulnerable to preventable health outcomes and economic disadvantages due to poor health literacy and healthcare access.
